A specially-designed full-day leadership training programme was conducted for 130 senior and junior prefects at Pannipitiya Dharmapala Vidyalaya on Friday (21) at the Sri Lanka Army Engineers (SLE) Division HQ at Mattegoda at the request of the principal.
With the blessings of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, the General Officer Commanding of the Sri Lanka Army Engineer Division, Major General A.H.L.G Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc gave guidelines for the project which was meant to develop students' leadership qualities, teamwork and team-building capacities, personality and social etiquettes.
The leadership programme included lectures, indoor and outdoor activities and demonstrations which enhanced training in a much realistic background giving them value-added experiences, so that the young leadership would learn the art of leadership. The lectures on “Leadership, Motivation and Time Management” during the sessions contributed effectively.
The certificate-awarding ceremony for the prefects was conducted at the end of the programme, and the General Officer Commanding, Sri Lanka Army Engineers Division, Major General Lanka Amarapala graced the event as the Chief Guest along with the Principal at Dharmapala Vidyalaya, Mrs. Maheshika Rupasinghe.
Deputy Center Commandant, Senior Officers and Other Ranks participated in the certificate-awarding ceremony along with teachers, parents and members of the past Pupils' Association at Dharamapala Vidyalaya.
