SECURITY FORCES Headquarters-South (SFHQ-S) raised to further strengthen the security in south including Colombo, commenced official functioning after it was ceremonially opened Wednesday (23) at Panagoda.
This new SFHQ commands 11 Division in Panagoda, 112 Brigade in Polhengoda, four Area Headquarters in Kandy, Hambantota, Galle and Diyatalawa, two Sub Area Headquarters in Ratnapura and Kurunegala and Operation Command Colombo (OCC) covering the largest area of the country with approximately 77% of the country’s total population.
Nearly 95% of the economically vulnerable points in the island lie within the area under command to the SFHQ(S).
Major General S.W.L. Daulagala took the office as the Commander SFHQ (S) after military proceedings and religious observances.
A few Senior Army Officers attended the ceremony.
