Six Absconding Tigers Surrender &;amp; Lead Army to Unearth Their Weapons

VAVUNIYA: SIX Tiger cadres who had surrendered to the Special Task Force Police post at VARIKUTTUR, VAVUNIYA west have led the Police to unearth a stock of LTTE arms and ammunition that had been kept buried several months ago in the same area on the road to MANNAR.

Three female and three male Tigers who had been allegedly moving about in VAVUNIYA area for sometime while resorting to LTTE violence in the past had finally made up their minds to surrender to the troops in VAVUNIYA Tuesday (9) morning. 

Their confession enabled the Army troops and the STF to unearth five T-56 weapons, one T-81 weapon, one 40 mm Grenade Launcher, five hundred and ninety seven T-56 ammunition rounds, four 40 mm bombs, seventeen hand grenades, one Global Positioning System, one battery pack, six Army-type trousers and seven shirts, seven packs, four pouches, one belt order, four water bottles, twenty-one T-56 magazines and six dog tags.    

Those six surrendered LTTE cadres, identified as RAJENDRAN MANOSHILA (24), KANESHALINGAM KARTHIKA (20), SITHAMBARAM NADAN MEKALA (20), IRASARATHNAM NIRBALA RUBAN (30), SUBRAMANIUM RATHNASEELAN (24) and ARAKACHCHI WASANTHA RAJ (21), all of them from KILINOCHCHI and JAFFNA were to be directed for rehabilitation soon after Police investigations are over.
