Adding a historic memory and happiness to infantrymen in the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR), four newly-promoted SLSR Majors General were hosted to a felicitation on Monday (24) at the SLSR Regimental Centre HQ at Ambepussa in accordance with customary practices.
Major General D.M.H.D. Bandara, Major General A.A.I.J Bandara, Major General D.S.D Welikala and Major General H.M.B.R.T Hathnagoda, who were earlier offered best wishes separately by Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, the acting Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army received those ceremonials at the SLSR Regimental HQ.
Those newly-promoted two star Majors General were warmly welcomed on arrival at the premises by the SLSR Deputy Centre Commandant, Lieutenant Colonel Dulith Perera on behalf of the Colonel of the Regiment.
Afterwards, four separate Guard Turnouts greeted them before the Centre Commandant and All Ranks of the SLSR welcomed them to the RHQ.
Then, they paid tribute to the War Heroes’ monument by placing floral wreaths at the memorial. After that, all four Majors General were honoured in four separate Guard of Honour parades in the parade ground before they were invited by the Centre Commandant, Brigadier Ajith Pallawela to the special dais.
Soon after the honours, showing ties of strong bonds of SLSR brotherhood, all ranks joined for tea with newly-promoted Majors General towards the end of the day's proceedings. Members of the Regimental Council, Deputy Centre Commandant, Senior Officers, Staff Officers, Commanding Officers and Other Ranks were associated with the historic ceremony.
Major General Manoj Mudannayake, Colonel of the Regiment and Director General Infantry also joined newly-promoted Majors General for lunch in the afternoon at the Officers’ Mess where he wished them and awarded mementoes as symbols of RHQ’s appreciation.Sport media | Ανδρικά Nike
