Selected 150 School Students from poverty-stricken Monaragala, Siyabalanduwa, Badalkumbura, Buttala, Wellawaya and Thanamalvila areas in the Security Force Headquarters – Central (SFHQ - C) recently received push bicycles as gifts, thanks to generosity, offered by a Singaporean delegation, headed by Ven. Bellanwila Dhammaratana Nayake Thera, Advisor, Singapore Buddhist Library and Chief Incumbent, Bellanwila Raja Maha Vihara.
The distribution, organized at the 5 Gemunu Watch Battalion Headquarters at Wellawaya under the (SFHQ-C) , was attended by Major General U.A.B. Medawala, Commander, SFHQ – C as the Chief Guest, together with Ven. Bellanwila Dharmmaratana Nayaka Thera, Representatives from Singapore, Senior Army and Air Force officers, Zonal Education Director, Divisional Secretaries, Principals, teachers and student recipients.
Students of Monaragala (21), Siyabalanduwa (22), Badalkumbura (19), Buttala (29), Wellawaya (28) and Thanamalwila (31) during this simple ceremony were awarded those bicycles that would facilitate their school-going movement without delays on roads for public or private transport.
