JUSTICE Minister Milinda Moragoda recently visited Jaffna with a group of senior officers of the Ministry, including Major General Daya Rathnayake and Major General (rtd) V R Silva. They were received by the Commander Security Forces - Jaffna Major General L B R Mark on arrival.
The Minister afterwards visited the Court complex in Point Pedro and inquired into the functioning of the judicial system and its lapses, if any. Thereafter he visited the Jaffna prison and inquired about infrastructure facilities inside the prison. Later he met members of the Jaffna Bar Association and the Jaffna Citizens Committee at the Jaffna Library Auditorium.
Meanwhile, Minister of Foreign Affairs in Singapore Mr. George Yeo also visited Jaffna with several of his officials on 17th October 2009 morning. They reached Jaffna Fort and were received by the Governor of Northern Province Major General (rtd) G A Chandrasiri and Commander Security Forces – Jaffna Major General L B R Mark. District Secretary for Jaffna Mr K Ganesh was also present on the occasion.
In the discussion that followed at the Jaffna library auditorium, Mr K Ganesh explained to the delegation over the Jaffna administration. Later they visited welfare villages and participated in a special pooja at Nallur Kandasamy Kovil. The delegation praised the Army for their humanitarian activities carried out in Jaffna in addition to provision security to the people of Jaffna.
