Several simultaneous spiritual projects that got underway on Tuesday (12) at leading Buddhist places of worship in Anuradhapura, Kataragama, Kelaniya, Ratnapura, Nawagamuwa, Akaravita, Jummah Masjid Mosque in Hanwella and Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Kaluaggala invoked blessings on the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) HQ which is now about to warm its new HQ complex.
The spiritual programme was initiated by Major General Sujeewa Senarath Yapa, Commandant, SLAVF where all SLAVF establishments in respective areas were instructed to participate during the evening on Tuesday (12).
Accordingly, blessing ceremonies, organized at Ruwanweli Maha Seya in Anuradhapura, Kiri Vehera in Kataragama, Kelaniya Rajamaha Viharaya in Kelaniya, Sri Sumana Saman Devalaya in Ratnapura, Nawagamuwa Pattini Devalaya in Nawagamuwa, Lenawara Rajamaha Viharaya in Akarawita, Jummah Masjid Mosque in Hanwella and Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Kaluaggala simultaneously blessed the SLAVF HQ and its new construction complex.
The previous SLAVF HQ was reduced to ashes several years ago after a string of accidental explosions, prompting the SLAVF administration to move into the nearby Logistic Command premises for operational needs.
On Tuesday (12), those members of clergy of all faiths spiritually invoked blessings before its ceremonial opening shortly.
Several Senior Officers and Officers were associated with the day’s programme in respective areas.
