Signallers’ New Colonel Commandant Assumes Office

Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) troops presented military honours and warm greetings to the newly-appointed Colonel Commandant, SLSC, Major General B.H.M.A Wijesinghe when he took office on Monday (17) during a formal military ceremony, held at the SLSC Regimental Headquarters.

Upon arrival at the SLSC Regimental Headquarters at Panagoda the newly-appointed SLSC Colonel Commandant was warmly welcomed by Brigadier P.A.J Peiris, Centre Commandant, SLSC and awarded a Guard Turnout as the initial military formality. Then, the new Colonel Commandant of the SLSC was conducted to the Signallers’ Memorial to lay a floral wreath in memory of fallen SLSC War Heroes.

After a while, the ceremonial military parade commanded by Lieutenant Colonel B.D Fernando, Commanding Officer, 5th Regiment SLSC, presented a salute. In the new office, Major General B.H.M.A Wijesinghe lit the traditional oil lamp and took over the duties by placing his signature in an official document, amidst chanting of ‘Seth Pirith’.

The day’s ceremony afterwards saw a customary troop address, an All Rank tea and a meeting with senior Officers.
