Troops of 6 Sri Lanka Signal Corps (6 SLSC) deployed at Gurunagar area took measures to clean the old Ceynor jetty which remained unused. The move was to help fishermen to anchor their boats in the jetty.
The jetty remained unusable for a long time due to garbage dumped around the jetty, inconveniencing fishing folk of Gurunagar to use it.
The cleaning campaign was conducted following a request made to Commanding Officer 6 SLSC Lieutenant Colonel Samitha Imaduwage by Mr. Juliet Sahayaraja, Chairman, Gurunagar Fisheries Committee representing 2400 family members.
