The Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) Regimental HQ at Panagoda hosted a formal felicitation ceremony to newly-promoted Major General R Elvitigala USP and Major General I.H.M.R.K Herath USP ndc psc on Friday (13 Oct) inviting them to the SLSC Regimental HQ.
Those newly-promoted two star Major Generals were warmly welcomed on arrival at the premises by the SLSC Centre Commandant, Brigadier A.K.D Adikari USP on behalf of the Colonel of the Regiment and subsequent separate Guard Turnouts at the entrance greeted them in accordance with military traditions.
Giving pride of place to the memory of all fallen SLSC War Heroes, both Major Generals separately laid floral wreaths at the SLSC War Heroes' monument and paid their tribute in a solemn ceremony.
Afterwards, both of them were honoured in two separate Guard of Honour salutes in the parade ground after they were invited by the Centre Commandant to the special dais. Soon after, they left memories by posing for group photographs with the Regimental Staff and SLSC Officers.
Later on, both of them together paid a courtesy call on the Chief Signal Officer of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Signal Corps Major General K.A.W.S Ratnayake ndu at the Colonel Commandant’s Office.
During refreshments, the newly-promoted Officers took time off to share a few thoughts with Officers who were present at the Officers’ Mess. In addition, memories were left in the compound by planting saplings.
Before concluding the day’s itinerary, Major General R Elvitigala USP and Major General I.H.M.R.K Herath USP ndc psc joined for lunch with all Officers at the Officers’ Mess. Exchange of mementoes brought the event to an end.
