Signal Corps Seva Vanitha to Gift A New House to a War Hero Family Appreciating Their 'Unseen Love'

Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) Seva Vanitha Unit, extending its humanitarian services once again, has completed the construction of a spacious and modern new house to the visually-handicapped Lance Corporal C.R.S.P Naleen Kumara of 7 SLSC at Waragoda, Thalawa.

Married to Ms H.M Buddhika of Udupussellawa, Nuwara Eliya, the War Hero, Lance Corporal C.R.S.P Naleen Kumara is blessed with a 2 ½ year old infant, but absence of a proper house, posed a major setback to their life.

However, the SLSC Seva Vanitha Unit having learnt the difficulties, the family has been facing, came forward to build a new house to the visually impaired War Hero who while facing the enemy in Nochchikulam area on 25 July 2008, fell victim to an LTTE booby trap with serious burnt injuries to his face, making him totally blind for the rest of his life.

Though he failed to see his fiancée through naked eye before they legally became husband and wife, they both continued their wedded life, resulting in the birth of the infant, Dilshan Gunaratne on 16 July 2011.

Mrs Sandamali Abeysekara, Chairperson, SLSC Seva Vanitha Unit, using the 40 perch land that had been given to the War Hero by his parents, finally laid the foundation stone on 31 October 2012 for construction of a new house to the disable War Hero.

With the support of sponsors and other supporters to the project, the SLSC Seva Vanitha Unit in order to immortalize their tale of ‘unseen love’ completed the construction of a modern house to the War Hero.

On February (14), Mrs Damayanthi Ratnayake, President, Seva Vanitha Army Unit, is to warm the new house and hand it over to the War Hero during a simple ceremony.
