Signal Corps Day Marked with Elaborate Arrangements

 
Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC), one of the most renowned support wings of the Sri Lanka Army on Sunday (19) commemorated its 71st Corps Day with elaborate arrangements and inaugural openings at its Headquarters, Panagoda.
 
The anniversary ceremonies, headed by Major General Prasad Samarasinghe, Colonel Commandant, SLSC who is also the Chief of Staff of the Army as the Chief Guest, began with a formal Guard Turnout and a colourful regimental parade, presented in his honour soon after Major General Samarasinghe, arrived at the scene. Major General K.R.P Rowel, Chief Signal Officer was also present at the ceremony.
 
The occasion was made memorable with the opening of the newly-built Regimental Conference Hall, Auditorium and the Software Development and Engineering Wing by the Chief Guest at the invitation of the SLSC Centre Commandant.
 
The new Conference Hall could facilitate 150 visitors and the completely renovated auditorium with all state-of-the-art modern facilities is one of the best among other auditoriums in the Army.
 
The newly-opened, Software Development and Engineering Wing, a turning point in the SLSC history, has all sophisticated IT equipment and laboratory facilities that could match with international standards.
 
During the day’s itinerary, SLSC sportsmen and women who brought honour to the Corps were also felicitated and awarded amidst cheers of the gathering. Similarly, 5 SLSC Regiment was adjudged the Best Regiment during 2013 - 2014, considering its outstanding performances and excellent contribution to the growth of SLSC in general. A special trophy awarded to the 5 SLSC at the same time recognized its exceptional commitment to the service.
 
An all-rank lunch, headed by the Chief Guest brought the Corps Day ceremonies to culmination.
