SFHQs Contribute Their Share to ‘Suwa Darani’ Sapling Planting Drive

In parallel with the Army HQ-initiated planting of rare herbal saplings in island-wide Army camps to coincide with the ‘Herbal Medicine Day’ and under the ‘Suwa Dharani’ National Programme, troops on the directions of respective SFHQ Commanders, General Officers Commanding, Brigade Commanders and Unit Commanders launched their own planting programmes inside their locations on Thursday (17).

At the Security Force HQ - West (SFHQ-West) premises in Panagoda, troops planted more than 30 saplings of herbal medicine, such as Mee, Bulu, Nelli and Pomegranate, etc during this event. Brigadier General Staff, Brigadier Nalin Koswatta, Brigadier Administration and Quartering, Brigadier Jagath Nishantha representing the SF-West Commander, Major General Chula Abeynayake together with SFHQ-West troops contributed to this event.

Similarly, SFHQ-Central troops on the guidelines given by Major General Keerthi Costa, Commander, SF-Central launched their part by planting nearly one hundred rare species inside the SFHQ-Central camp area on the same day (17).

Meanwhile, troops of Security Force HQ - Kilinochchi planted 100 margosa (Kohomba) saplings inside the HQ premises on 17 September 2020.

This programme was directed by Major General Sampath Kotuwegoda, Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi. Brigadier General Staff, Brigadier Ajith Dissanayaka, Brigadier Admin and Quartering, Brigadier Deepal Hathurusinghe, other Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks attended the planting programme.

In the meantime, troops of the Security Forces Mullaittivu also joined their hands with the “Suwadarani” national drive for planting of saplings of medicinal value on Thursday (17) to coincide with the inauguration of it at the AHQ.

Major General Jagath Rathnayake, Commander Security Forces – Mullaittivu planted the first sapling and inaugurated the project. A total of 30 such saplings were planted inside the camp premises.

In the meantime, SFHQ-Wanni, coincident with the 'Herbal Medicine Day' and the 'Suwa Dharani' National Programme contributed their share to the project by planting about 30 herbal saplings in the camp premises on Thursday (17) September.

Herbal saplings such as Mee, Bulu, Nelli and Pomegranate were planted during this event.

Brigadier General Staff Brigadier, Nalin Koswatta, Brigadier Administration and Quartering Brigadier Jagath Nishantha and Staff Officers of the SFHQ-Wanni were present during the programme. Sports brands | Nike
