SFHQ – KLN Educates Civilians & Service Personnel on HIV-AIDS

An awareness programme for soldiers on ‘HIV and AIDS’ serving in the Security Forces Headquarters – Kilinochchi (SFHQ – KLN) and civilians took place on Wednesday (30) at the ‘Nelum Piyasa’ auditorium.

On the instructions of the Commander, SF-KLN, Major General Amal Karunasekara, the awareness programme coincided with the World AIDS day which falls on 01 December each year.

412 Military personnel from the Army, Navy, Air Force and the Police and 252 civilians listened to the informative lecture, delivered jointly by Dr Sathya Herath, a Consultant Community Physician in National STD/AIDS Programme of the Health Ministry and Dr Kumari Karunarathne from Kilinochchi. Troops of the 5 Sri Lanka Armoured Corps coordinated the project.

Colonel I.P Kandanaarachchi, Colonel Administration & Quartering - SFHQ (KLN) attended the event, along with Lieutenant Colonel G.P Kodithuwakku, Colonel General Staff, 57 Division, senior officers and officers.
