SFHQ-West Troops Continue Post-Flood Cleaning Work

Army troops of the Security Force Headquarters - West (SFHQ-West) in the recent flood-affected Gampaha, Colombo and Puttalam areas after conduct of most urgent rescue and relief operations are currently busy cleaning polluted drinking water wells, using Army water pumps.

Troops of the 14 Division under the SFHQ-West, are also busy with clearing work with the help of water pumps for disposal of contaminated water while facilitating all other humanitarian concerns.

In Gampaha district, 8 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) troops of the 141 Brigade have just completed cleaning of 26 drinking water wells in the general area of Magalegoda in Attanagalla Divisional Secretariat area during the course of Wednesday (6). Troops of the SFHQ-West on the directions of Major General Sathyapriya Liyanage, Commander, Security Forces - West (SF-West) have thrown their full weight behind those post - disaster projects of different nature.

Under this programme, 14 Division troops carried out cleaning of 110 drinking water wells in Wevaldeniya, Hindeniya, Pattiyagoda, Daraluwa, Pattiyapola, Magalegoda, Arachchikattuwa and Bamunukottuwa areas giving priority to those projects after the weather conditions improved.
