Giving one more boost to the Army Commander’s initiative, ‘Thuru Mithuru-Nawa Ratak’ re-forestation and cultivation project, Security Force Headquarters-West troops on Friday (13) sowed seed paddy in one more 6-acre plot of field inside the Army camp and the farm at Panaluwa, Thunthana after preparation of the entire patch by ploughing.
The project launched under the guidance of Major General Chula Abeynayake, Commander, Security Forces-West saw the process of sowing seed paddy took place at the auspicious minute in keeping with traditional agricultural practices giving pride of place to religious observances by the side of the ‘Kamatha’ (threshing floor).
