The Sri Lanka Army, ready to respond to any natural or manmade disaster or catastrophe in the country continues to have its members well-prepared for any eventuality by conducting disaster management training sessions.
One such session, named ‘Train the Trainer’ for firefighting in affiliation with the Fire Service Department - Colombo got underway at the Engineer Division HQ premises in Mattegoda during 1-3 September 2023.
Major General U.D Wijesekera RWP RSP USP rcds psc, Commander, Security Forces-West took the initiative in this regard.
Accordingly, inclusive of 10 Officers and 46 other ranks from all Security Forces Headquarters and Army Training Schools of the Sri Lanka Army were educated in both theory and practical aspects of the basic firefighting techniques by Mr. Kamal Wilson, Chief Fire Officer of the Fire Services Department, Mr Ranjan Kumara, and Mr. Rasika Abeywickrama who are experts at Fire and Rescue Training Academy in Colombo.
