SFHQ-West Team 2 Wins Inter Security Forces' Officers’ Squash Tournament

The first-ever Inter Security Forces' Officers’ Squash Tournament, organized by the Army Squash Committee was held from 21 - 24 February at Army Physical Training School Squash Courts in Panagoda.

This tournament was held with the blessings of the acting Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva with the aim of promoting the game among Officers of the Sri Lanka Army.

The tournament consisted of two events; team event, in which each team representing all Security Force Headquarters (SFHQs) and two teams from SFHQ-West who competed in individual event in which Officers in different rank categories (Major General/Brigadier, Colonel/Lieutenant Colonel, Major, Captain, Lieutenant/2nd Lieutenant and Lady Officers in any rank) competed to be the best in their ranks.

Major General Chinthaka Gamage, Team Captain of the SFHQ-East Team, who became the champion in Major General/Brigadier category, too played enthralling finals against Brigadier Pradeep Gunawardena who became the first runner-up in Major General/Brigadier category.

SFHQ-West Team 2, represented by Brigadier Mahesh Abeyratne, Lieutenant Colonel Kaminda Silva SLAC, Major Chandika Chandrajith SLE, Captain Asanka Samaraweera SLE, Lieutenant Eranga Liyanagamage SLE and Lieutenant Hashini Abeyratne SLAGSC clinched the team championship trophy whilst SFHQ-East and SFHQ-Jaffna, teams became first and second runners-up respectively.

Commander SFHQ-West, Major General Mahinda Mudalige graced the awarding ceremony as the Chief Guest on the invitation of the Chairman, Army Squash, Brigadier Pradeep Gunawardena. Many other officers gathered to witness the event. affiliate tracking url | Nike Shoes
