SFHQ-West Organizes Eye Clinic

Troops of the 4 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) of the 583 Brigade under the 58 Division of the Security Force Headquarters-West (SFHQ-West) organized an eye clinic for patients in Ruwanwella area in Kegalle District on Tuesday (19) at Yadamwala Sri Swarna Walukaramaya under the guidance of Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commander, SFHQ-West.

Major General K.C. Gunawardane, General Officer Commanding, 58 Division graced the inauguration ceremony as the chief guest.

A total of 216 patients received spectacles during the clinic which was conducted by the eye surgeon Dr. Nimal Weerakoon, together with Mahanuwara Optical (Pvt) Ltd under the supervision of General Officer Commanding, 58 Division and Brigadier Randula Hathnagoda, Commander, 583 Brigade.

Senior Officers, Commanding Officer, 4 SLSR and government officials attended the event.

Previously, troops of the 583 Brigade in  the 58 Division serving under the SFHQ-West  have conducted 4 eye clinics with the sponsorship of donors in Kegalle and Embilipitiya areas, giving away 1598 spectacles worth nearly Rs. 1.7 million to eye patients.
