The Security Force HQ - West (SFHQ-West), raised on 15 November 2012 marked its 9th anniversary on Monday (15) amid several formal arrangements, including a special address delivered to the troops at the Headquarters.
SFHQ-West covering nine districts of the country under 14 and 61 Divisions in the Western, North-Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern Provinces are currently engaged in multiple security, nation-building and social development projects on the guidelines given by Major General Senarath Yapa, Commander, Security Forces - West.
SFHQ-West troops on the anniversary day received their Commander on arrival and Colonel General Staff, Colonel B.M.A Balasooriya ushered him to the main hall for the troop address.
The Commander, Security Forces - West in his speech touched on several salient aspects and security as well as current involvement of troops in the fight against COVID-19. He also briefed the troops on current emergency roles during his speech.
In the same evening, a Bodhi Pooja was held at the Sri Bodhirajaramaya temple at Panagoda and invoked blessings on the troops. Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks and civil staffers of the SFHQ-West were associated with anniversary events.
