The Security Force Headquarters-West (SFHQ-West) that provides security and all emergency services to nine districts including those in the Western, North-Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern Provinces commemorated its 10th anniversary on Tuesday (15) with a series of events at the SF HQ-West premises in Panagoda.
On the anniversary day (15), the SFHQ-West troops in a formal Guard Turnout and a subsequent Guard of Honour saluted the incumbent SF Commander-West, Major General Deepal Pussella on arrival at the location.
Soon after military honours were presented by troops of the Sri Lanka Army Corps of Engineers, the 13th Commander of the SFHQ-West was warmly received by Brigadier Asela Amarasekara, Brigadier Administration and Quartering and Brigadier Nilantha Premaratne, Brigadier General Staff at the entrance to the SFHQ-West.
After a while, the West Commander was invited to add symbolic value to the day by planting a sapling in the SFHQ compound. In his address to the troops afterwards, the West Commander highlighted the importance of maintaining discipline and moral conduct while performing Army duty roles. He was also invited to pose for a group photograph with all ranks in order to mark the importance of the day.
An all rank lunch that followed brought the day’s anniversary arrangements to an end. General Officers Commanding, 61 and 14 Infantry Divisions, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Staff Officers at the SFHQ-West, Other Ranks, and civil employees were present at the anniversary events.
