A programme that coincides with the Commander's “Thuru Mithuru-Nawa Ratak” cultivation and beautification project got underway on Thursday (11) at the Security Force Headquarters -West premises where a stock of some 3000 environment-friendly saplings were distributed among Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF), Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR), Sri Lanka Army Service Corps (SLASC), SFHQ-West, 14 Division, 61 Division and Sri Lanka Rifle Corps (SLRC) for planting on the instructions of Major General H.J Senevirathne, Commander, Security Forces-West.
Those rare species of herbs and saplings included Coconut, Karnda, Mee, Swoon, Kohomba, Madan, Kumbuk, Thelambu, Kaya and several other varieties.
