SFHQ-Wanni's Second 'Family Trip' Draws More Attractions

Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) organizing its second annual 'family picnic' for soldiers and their family members took them to Anuradhapura, Mannar, Thalaimannar, Mihinthale, Thanthirimaale, Madhu and Welioya with the intention of providing them with collective happiness, joy and goodwill during the festive season.

The three-day (April 6 - 8) excursion, comprised of 133 members of 29 families, including Non Commissioned Officers, privates and civil employees serving the SFHQ-W, provided free meals, accommodation, transport and refreshments to the participants, in addition to the supply of medical assistance in the event of any emergencies.

The entire arrangement, organized sticking to all New Year traditions and formalities saw the travellers welcomed on arrival with Hevisi drummers before the buses carrying them departed from the SFHQ-W premises. Similarly, a special bevy of Kandyan dancers, performing their ritualistic blessings invoked greetings for a safe passage when the buses were about to set off on the journey.

Upon their return to the SFHQ-W after the three-day long trip, all were entertained to a delicious dinner and a subsequent musical show, during which all children in the group were awarded special gifts and school accessories before their departure home, the following day.

A raffle draw finally brought the arrangement to an end late in the evening. Major General Kumudu Perera, Commander, SF-W, together with several Senior Officers joined the group and interacted with them till late evening.
