Security Force Headquarters – Wanni (SFHQ-Wanni) proudly marked its 26th anniversary with a series of events under the directions of Major General W.P.A.D.W. Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu, the Commander, Security Forces -Wanni (SF – Wanni ) on 18 March 2024.
The anniversary celebrations included Buddhist religious observances at the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi and Ruwanweli Maha Stupa, Hindu observances at the Kandaswami Kovil Vavuniya, Qirath's prayers at the Jumma Mosque Vavuniya, and a special mass at the Shrine of Our Lady of Madhu Church.
Meanwhile, the troops organized engaging activities such as tug of war, volleyball, and cricket competitions among under-command units, along with a spectacular musical event.
On the anniversary day, in accordance with military traditions, a ceremonial Guard Turnout was presented to the Commander, SF – Wanni. Afterwards, the Commander was honoured in a Guard of Honour parade in the parade ground after he was invited to the special dais. Later on, he posed for a group photograph, planted a sapling and addressed the troops, followed by an All Ranks lunch where he interacted with the troops.
Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of SFHQ-Wanni participated in these celebratory events.
