Security Forces Headquarters, Wanni (SFHQ-W) quickly responding to fast spreading rumours, related to menace of a ‘grease devil’, has so far conducted 607 awareness programmes to a crowd of more than 24,835 civilians in the Wanni sector.
These programmes in Vavuniya, Mannar, Anuradhapura and Welioya areas, supported by the Police enlightened the public on spread of baseless rumours, criminal elements, objectives of those perpetrators, preventive measures, roles of the Security Forces and the Police, steps that should be taken by the civilians, etc highlighted the importance of being always alert to those rumour mongers and presence of criminals, bent on disrupting normalcy in society.
Major General A.K.S Perera, Commander, SFHQ-W intends to further spread those programmes to elsewhere in the region covering all the villages. The series of lectures conducted in this connection during those programmes, it was apparent, brought about an impressive impact.
