SFHQ-MLT Marks Its 3rd Anniversary Giving Prominence to Religious Programmes

Several special programmes got underway at Security Forces Headquarters-Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) and its suburbs in order to mark the 3rd anniversary of the founding of the SFHQ-MLT.

Religious ceremonies and special Poojas at Christian, Islamic, Hindu and Buddhist places of worship preceded the military events, taking prominence in the anniversary programme.

On June 8, troops of the 11 Field Engineers Regiment organized a procession (perahera) and conducted members of the Maha Sangha for an overnight Pirith chanting ceremony. A heel daana (breakfast) offer to the monks, the following morning ended the programme.

Military programmes commenced on June 10 after a salute presented to Major General L.B.R Mark, Commander, SFHQ-MLT in accordance with military traditions and formalities. He inspected the Guard Turnout before receiving the Guard of Honour from a special dais.

Afterwards, Major General Mark planted a mango sapling in the SFHQ-MLT premises, joined a special tea party with all ranks and addressed the troops on the same occasion as a formality.

The ceremonies came to a climax as dusk fell when the stage was set for a mega musical show, backed by the Army beat group. Officers and all ranks enjoyed the entertainment until late into night.
