SFHQ-KLN Initiative Gets Dry Rations & School Accessories to More than 250 Families

A combined team of donors and philanthropists at the request of the Commander Security Forces - Kilinochchi, Major General Harendra Ranasinghe on Friday (09) came forward to extend their hand of friendship and goodwill to more than 250 needy families in Kilinochchi by way of bringing dry ration packs and school accessories on account of the forthcoming New Year spirits.

Sponsorship to this humanitarian cause was provided by Mr Naveen Perera and his family, Mr Deepan, Mr Ishara Liyanage, Mr K Sangeev Kumar, Mr P Lal De Silva, Mr L.H.R De Silva, Mr P Leena De Silva, Mr Sanjeewa Rukshan and a few more, all of them from the South contributed to the project at various capacities in response to the Kilinochchi Commander's request to them for assistance for livelihoods of under privileged families.

The programme mainly focused on 250 needy families living in the entire Kilinochchi area and each dry ration pack cost over Rs 7200/=. Each set of school accessories was worth over Rs 1500, comprised of stationery, pens and pencils, reading materials, bags and accessories.

Each pack contained red rice, flour, dhal (Watana) - red dhal, soya meat, sugar, tea leaves, milk powder, canned fish (1), Noodles packets, cowpea, chick pea, tooth paste tubes, tooth brushes and soaps. This programme focused on identified families who were undergoing hardships due to loss of their livelihood means, particularly with imposition of COVID-19 restrictions. The gesture also served as an incentive to upcoming Sinhala and Hindu New Year festival.

Brigadier General Staff Brigadier Saman Liyanage, Brigadier Admin and Quartering Brigadier Deepal Hathurusinghe, Senior Staff Officers, Officers and other Ranks of the Security Force Headquarters together with the main donor, Mr Naveen Perera joined this programme.

After visiting each doorstep, adhering to all COVID-19 preventive measures, Army personnel with a few donors gave away those gift parcels and extended greetings for the New Year. Similarly, packs of school accessories were also delivered to those deserving students after meeting each of them in specific locations.

Chief Coordinator of Civil Affairs at SFHQ-KLN, Lieutenant Colonel L. Kithsiri and all Officers in the SFHQ-KLN provided the fullest support to coordinate with donors and to make the event a success.Buy Sneakers | New Releases Nike
