SFHQ-KLN with Elaborate Programmes Commemorates 5th Anniversary

Traditional military formalities and religious observances marked the commemoration of the 5th anniversary of the Security Force Headquarters-Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) during a series of events, held between June 26-29.    

Troops on Tuesday (26) attended observances such as the Kovil Pooja at Kanakarnbhikkay Paththini Kovil, Iranamadu, Islamic prayers at Jumma mosque, Kilinochchi and a Mass at St Theresa's Church at Kilinochchi where the troops were blessed and merits transferred on the fallen.    

An all-night Pirith chanting, shared by  20 members of the Maha Sangha, drawn from 8 sacred places (Atamasthana) in Anuradhapura took place on Saturday (28).

Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commander, SFHQ-KLN on Sunday (29) offered breakfast (Heel Daana) to the monks.

Meanwhile, the SFHQ troops conducted a blood donation campaign with the cooperation of the Army Hospital at Kilinochchi.

Later on, a Guard of Honour and a Guard Turn Out, presented to the SFHQ-KLN Commander, saluted him and the event followed tree planting and an all rank lunch. A musical show, staged in the same evening with the participation of the Commander, SFHQ-KLN and all ranks culminated the anniversary ceremonies.    
 
SFHQ-KLN, close to the Iranamadu Tank - Kilinochchi was established on 29 June 2009 with the conclusion of the 30-year long  brutal war  in order to ensure security for the area, execution of the ‘5 R concept’ ( reconstruction, resettlement, rehabilitation, reintegration and reconciliation) and maintain peace in the area.
