A stock of 125 bicycles and 150 packets of dry rations were recently distributed among the underprivileged at Akkarayanakulam and Ambalnagar areas in 632 Brigade under the Security Forces Headquarters, Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN).
The 632 Brigade under Task Force - 3 at first identified those underprivileged families in those areas with the support of respective Grama Seva officials.
The ceremony to distribute those bicycles and dry ration packets among the needy took place at Akkarayankulam Maha Vidyalaya and Ambalnagar Kalaimagal Vidyalaya. Both occasions were attended by SFHQ – KLN Commander and a host of senior officers.
Meanwhile, the 571 Brigade troops taking stock of the requirements of the kids living in Vivekananda Nagar village initiated the repair work to the pre-school at that village thanks to the assistance received from Sri Lanka Baptist Ladies Club, Colombo. Army troops serving the 571 Brigade completed renovation work within a couple of days and opened it for the benefit of those children in the area.
In another similar move, the 571 Brigade recently took steps to lay foundation stone for construction of a new pre-school building for kids at Barathipuram Grama Seva division.
Mr Bernard Botheju, Chairman, Bernard Pvt Ltd has come forward to sponsor the project at the request of the Army. The foundation stone for the project was laid last week in the presence of 571 Brigade Commander and senior officers. The SFHQ-KLN has given its blessings to the projects.
