SFHQ-KLN Builds Two News Houses for the Needy with Sponsorships

With financial sponsorship, extended by Mr and Mrs Mohan Shankar through coordination of Major General (retd) Darshana Hettiarrachchi, a former Commander of the Security Forces in Jaffna, troops of the SFHQ-Kilinochchi on the directions of the Commander Security Forces, Kilinochchi, Major General Sampath Kotuwegoda erected two new houses for needy families in Malayalapuram and Anavilandankulam in Kilinochchi and vested them during two separate ceremonies on Sunday (27).

The community project, aimed at promoting gestures of reconciliation, goodwill and harmony was completed by 9 and 20 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) troops of the SFHQ-KLN. In addition to their construction expertise, the same 9 and 20 (V) VIR troops were generous enough to buy a stock of furniture and other essential provisions for both families, Mrs Sengannan Rajeshwaree of No. 49, Malayalapuram, Kilinochchi and Mr. Thiruchelvam Suwendiram of Anavilandankulam, Akkarayankulam who are living in abject poverty with family members.

In keeping with Hindu traditions, Major General Sampath Kotuwegoda, Commander, Security Forces Kilinochchi as the Chief Guest, together with representatives of those donors, General Officer Commanding of the 57 Division, Major General Sujeewa Senarath Yapa, General Officer Commanding of the 65 Division Brigadier Tikiri Dissanayaka, Commander, 572 Brigade, Commander 652 Brigade, Commander 573 Brigade, Commanding Officers of 9 and 20 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiments, Other Ranks who accomplished the project unveiled plaques and vested them in the beneficiaries.
