SFHQ-KLN's Timely Action Saves Bread Winner's Left Hand


Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN), extending its humanitarian assistance for the benefit of the common folk, took timely action to save one arm of a 20 - year old carpenter, the sole bread winner of a family of three in Urthipuram, Kilinochchi.

Mr Rasaiyya Ranjith, received injuries to his left hand below the wrist while working at his carpentry workshop on May 25 and was rushed to Kilinochchi General Hospital for immediate medical treatment, but Dr Sandasekaran Thivakaran of the hospital maintained that chances for recovery without amputation were remote unless a surgery was done within next 4-5 hours at the Colombo National Hospital.     

Medical staff immediately kept the SFHQ-KLN informed of this emergency and Major General Udaya Perera, Security Force Commander - Kilinochchi promptly responded organizing airlifting of the patient to Colombo as early as possible.

Kilinochchi District Medical Officer and close relatives of the victim praised the Kilinochchi Commander for his quick action and considerateness. The victim is now fast recovering at the accident service at the Colombo National Hospital.
