The donor, Mr Kumara Weerasooriya with his colleagues once again at the invitation of the Security Force HQ-Jaffna sponsored the construction of a new house to a needy family in the general area of Uduvil South in Chunnakam.
On being informed that one Mrs K. Sahida in the said area was undergoing hardships with her family members, Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya, Commander Security Forces -Jaffna turned to the donor as he is interested and generous enough to donate one more house to a needy family. Troops of 9 Sri Lanka Light Infantry under 511 Brigade under the supervision of the 51 Division offered their manpower and technical know-how to this worthy cause.
During a simple ceremony on Sunday (19), the keys for the new house were handed to the deserving family, together with a stock of essential home appliances.
The donor, Mr Weersooriya and his colleagues attended the warming ceremony in keeping with Hindu religious traditions.
Brigade Commanders under the 51 Division, Senior Officers, troops and well-wishers witnessed the opening ceremony.
Meanwhile, the same donor, impressed with the enthusiasm of the troops and the low-cost involved offered his sponsorship for construction of one more house for another deserving family living in the general area of Kodikamam South on Sunday (19) around the same time of the opening of the new home at Uduvil South.
Together with the heavy-weight behind the project, Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya, the donors laid the corner-stones for construction of this new house for the needy Mrs Manjula Gnaneshwaran. 7 Gajaba Regiment (GR) troops of the 52 Division under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding are set to carry out the construction.
