The Security Force HQ - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) adding ‘Poson’ Poya flavour to the All Ranks serving the Jaffna peninsula launched several programmes on ‘Poson’ Poya day (3 June).
The series of events included a ‘Dhamma’ sermon, a free eatery of Roti (Flat Bread) and Manioc, Coriander and Belimal herbal tea and all arrangements were streamlined as per directions of the overlooking Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna, Major General K.P.S.A Fernando RWP RSP ndu.
3 Sri Lanka Signal Corps distributed free Roti (Flat Bread) and Coriander Herbal Tea to civilians in the special ‘Dansela’, put up near the SFHQ-Jaffna entrance. The display of an elegant replica of Mihintale in front of the camp premises attracted the public attention. 7 Sri Lanka Women’s Corps and 3 Sri Lanka Signal Corps troops showing their aesthetic skills sang devotional songs ‘Bakthi Gee’ at the same location as dusk fell.
Meanwhile, 10 Field Engineer Regiment and 521 Infantry Brigade troops organized one more ‘Dansela’ of biscuits and coriander herbal tea in front of their respective camps. Officers and Other Ranks contributed to the arrangement where more than 500 civilians enjoyed the free meal provided by the troops.
Meanwhile, responding to a request made by Venerable Hanwelle Rathanasiri Thero, Chief Incumbent of the Navatkuli Samiddhi Sumana temple, troops including the 523 Brigade, 11 Field Engineer Regiment and 7 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment threw their full weight behind the launch of a free eatery at Navatkuli Samiddhi Sumana temple on 03 June.
