Security Force HQ-Jaffna (SFHQ-J), extending its community welfare roles in a broader manner joined hands together with the National Housing Development Authority (NHDA) in Jaffna and offered its soldiers' professional technical knowhow and manpower to build a new house for a needy family in the general area of Maradankerny, Jaffna and vested it in the family on Saturday (10).
Major General Priyantha Perera, Commander Security Force- Jaffna graced the simple house-warming ceremony as the chief guest and cut a ribbon, together with the child of the family and entered the house at the auspicious minute after formally handing over keys to the beneficiary, Mrs Tushikanthan Anjana Devi. The warming took place amidst Hindu religious rites and rituals.
During the ceremony, dry ration packs and essential household items required for this newly opened house and the family were also gifted to the owner of the house. Moreover, stationery items needed for children's educational work were also provided to the house owner's schooling son for his further studies.
Troops of the 10 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment contributed their technical expertise and skilled labour for this construction under the close supervision of the Commander, 553 Brigade.
General Officer Commanding 55 Division, Commander, 553 Brigade, Senior Officers, Government Officials and troops who contributed to the construction participated in the house warming ceremony under strict health guidelines.
