The most venerated and sacred Jaffna’s Nallur Kandaswamy Temple held its annual Theru (cart) festival with a sea of devotees on 12th September.
Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) as it did in the past provided the devotees this year too with 10,000 vegetarian lunch packets free of charge under the directions of Major General Nandana Udawatte, Commander, SFHQ-J.
Distribution of lunch packets was done across three locations in the area. Both local and foreign devotees participated in the Pooja on Saturday (12).
Major General Chagi Gallage, General Officer Commanding, 51 Division, together with senior officers joined the troops for distribution of lunch packets among devotees.
This year’s annual festival began on 19th August and culminated on 14th September with ‘Vairavashanthi’ ritual.
