Troops of the Security Force HQ - East (SFHQ-E) offered jackfruit and manioc for devotees in Welikanda area on Poson Poya day (June 03) as a free treat following guidelines given by Major General S.R.K Hettiarachchi RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc, Commander, Security Forces-East.
Nearly 1500 devotees in the area and travellers along Polonnaruwa - Batticaloa main road enjoyed the free treat (Dansela) which were collected locally and prepared by the SF-E troops before the distribution. Further, colourful 'Poson' lanterns designed and crafted by the troops added colour and admiration.
Major General S.R.K Hettiarachchi RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc inaugurated the free eatery in the morning and switched on the 'Poson' decorations in the evening. Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks contributed to the project and joined the inaugural occasion.
