Security Force Headquarters-East (SFHQ-E) went ahead with a series of welfare projects for the well-being of civilians in the area during this month.
6 Sri Lanka Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) of the 22 Division in the SFHQ-E organized a Shramadana campaign to clean the premises at Kumburupiddi school in Kuchchaweli area on 20 June.
Meanwhile, a ceremony for depositing treasure trove in the newly-constructed stupa at Muhudu Maha Viharaya, Pothuvil with the financial sponsorship of Dr Kapila Gunawardana was held on 19 June with the participation of Major General P.M.R Bandara, General Officer Commanding, 24 Division.
In the meantime, a two-day sports training camp, organized by the 241 Brigade of the 24 Division was held at the D.S Senanayake College grounds, Ampara for the school children and members of the sports clubs in Ampara with the assistance of the Zonal Educational Office, Ampara on 4 June. More than 460 school children from 68 schools, members of nine sports clubs and 46 teachers took part in the training camp.
In addition, SFHQ-E lent its generous hand distributing 1000 packets of sweetmeats among the children in Vakarai area on 21 June. Brigadier D.C.S Wanniarachchi, Brigadier Administration and Quartering, SFHQ-E along with several other officers and other ranks took part in the event.
