Fulfilling yet another beautification as well as a dengue prevention project in the Badulla District, a ‘Sharmadana’ campaign was organized with the participation of the state workers at Municipal Council, Prison, Ceylon Transport Board and Railway Station Badulla, together with several other civil organizations on Thursday (21).
Troops of the 11 Division contributed to the campaign under the guidance of the Commander, Security Forces – Central (SF-Cen), Major General Rukmal Dias.
Accordingly, 1 Officer and 20 Other Ranks belonging to 112 Brigade of the Security Force Headquarters – Central (SFHQ-Cen) assisted the dengue eradication campaign at Badulla.
The series of cleaning activities started with cleaning the Bus Stand, Public Market and the new Public Market. During the campaign, the priority was accorded to the cleanliness and beautification of the city.
This campaign successfully ended amidst the appreciations of the public towards the Commander of the Army and military personnel for arranging such public friendly programmes during the need of the hour.
Meanwhile, Another Dengue eradication programme was launched in the Hambantota District on Friday (22) by the troops of 122 Brigade of the 12 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-Cen).
Due to prevailed weather condition the threat of spreading dengue fever has increased. Therefore, this campaign was conducted to control the threat of mosquitoes in and around Hambantota District.
Accordingly, 20 soldiers from 23 Gajaba Regiment and 3 Sri Lanka National Guards contributed to the cleaning of Kirinda Primary School and Weliwewa Vidyalaya in the Hambantota District. During this campaign the troops destroyed the mosquito breeding places and cleaned the school premises.
