SFHQ-Central Continues Supply of Water to Drought-hit Civilians

Sri Lanka Army troops of the Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-C), taking note of hardships being experienced by civilians in Minipe Divisional Secretariat areas, Ridimaliyadda and Meegahakiula Divisional Secretariat areas and villages, like Siyambalanduwa, Wellawaya, Thanamalvila, Buttala, Moneragala, Medagama, Bibila, Madulla and Badalkumbura, continued their humanitarian assistance by providing water to drought-hit civilians during the period Sept 21 - 26.

More than 278,700 litres in 13 water bowsers were distributed among 8390 families under this continuing relief programme. Similarly, more than 189,100 litres using 9 bowsers were distributed among 1026 families in 11 Gramaseva Divisions during the same period.

Likewise, more than 821,200 litres of water were distributed among thirsty civilians in Siyambalanduwa, Wellawaya, Thanamalvila, Buttala, Moneragala, Medagama, Bibila, Madulla and Badalkumbura Gramaseva sectors.

Accordingly, more than 1,289,000 litres of water had been shared among 43,890 families following arrangements that had been set in place by the Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-C) on the directions of Major General Mano Perera, Commander, SFHQ-C.

Troops of the 111, 112 and 121 Brigades of the 11 and 12 Divisions of the SFHQ-C were compelled to find water bowsers of the District Secretariats since those vehicles of the Army were not adequate to provide the most essential requirement for living.

About 88 water bowsers had been used by the Army for this project during the said period.
