Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-C), headquartered at Diyatalawa, had its first 'birthday' celebrated on Friday (14), giving prominence to a series of religious observances, interactive sessions with troops, etc.

On the directions of Major General U. A. B Medawala, Commander, SFHQ-C, the 1st anniversary events, got underway on 7 March 2014 with 'Seth Pirith' chanting with the participation of more than 15 monks. Alms 'Heel Dana' and 'Sangeeka Dana' the following day, culminated Buddhist observances.

In the next three days that followed, troops headed by their SFHQ-C Commander, participated in Catholic, Hindu and Islamic prayer sessions and observances at Diyatalawa and Bandarawela where clergies of all three denominations invoked blessings on the 1st Anniversary of the SFHQ-C.

The line-up for anniversary ceremonies came to the climax on Friday (14) when the troops presented a Guard Turnout plus a Guard of Honour to their Commander at the SFHQ-C premises when he arrived at the venue as the Chief Guest of the day.

A customary troop address, an all rank lunch and a musical entertainment, the same evening, brought the commemorative arrangements to the end, attended by a large gathering of General Officers Commanding, Brigade Commanders, Unit Commanders, officers and other ranks serving the SFHQ-C.
