The 11 Division of the Security Force Headquarters-Cenrtal (SFHQ-C) organized SFHQ-C Athletic Meet to enhance the athletic abilities of Army personnel serving under SFHQ-C at Jayathilaka Grounds, Nawalapitiya ended on Thursday (18).
Brigadier D.S.N.K Senadeera, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 11 Division declared opened the SFHQ-C Athletic Meet by lighting the Olympic lantern on Tuesday (16).
Athletics teams of 15 Battalions participated in the SFHQ-C Athletic Meet. 10 Gemunu Watch emerged the championship by scoring 147 marks. The runner-up position was clinched by 22 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) with a score of 143. By scoring 107 marks 14 Sri Lanka Engineer (SLE) troops were awarded the second runner-up slot.
Meanwhile, Private B.M.A.L.M Basnayake was awarded the Best Athlete for Field Events and Lance Corparal P.T.N Galarawa received the Best Athlete award for Track Events.
On the final day, Major General Mano Perera, Commander, SFHQ-C graced the occasion as the chief guest. Senior officers including GOC, 11 Division, Brigade Commanders of 111 and 112 Brigades, invitees from the civil sector participated in the final day.
