Troops of the Security Force HQ- West (SFHQ-West) organized the 'Commander’s Challenge Trophy' Volleyball Tournament - 2023 in parallel with the forthcoming Sinhala and Hindu New Year festival under the guidance of Major General Deepal Pussella, Commander, SF-West. The final encounter got underway on Monday (April 03) at the Army Gymnasium in the Panagoda Cantonment.
Ten teams, including the SFHQ - West, Divisions and Brigades vied for prominence in the tournament under two tables. The SFHQ - West team and 143 Infantry Brigade team as finalists faced the final encounter. The preliminary matches were held from 27 to 29 March 2023 at the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps ground.
During the final tussle, the SFHQ - West team beat the 143 Infantry Brigade team by three rounds to nil. The Commander SF-West graced the occasion as the chief guest with Senior Officers, Officers and a large crowd of spectators.
The following players selected for their exceptional skills are to be awarded later with the participation of Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army.
