Major General Mahinda Mudalige, the newly-appointed Commander, Security Forces - West (SF-West) made his maiden visits to the 58 Division Headquarters in Boossa and its under command Battalion Headquarters on Friday (26).
Commander, SF-West at first arrived at the 58 Division Headquarters to be received by Major General Jayantha Gunarathne, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 58 Division before the visiting Commander was greeted to a Guard Turn Out around the main entrance.
Afterwards, he was invited to open the newly-constructed Tennis Court at the Division Headquarters premises. Later on, as a symbol of memory, the SF-West Commander was then invited to plant a ‘Coconut’ sapling inside the 58 Divisional Headquarters premises.
During the troop address, the Commander, SF-West urged them to continue training and good work while maintaining the highest standards of discipline at all levels.
The Commander SF-West afterwards visited the 3 (Volunteer) Gemunu Watch and 14 (Volunteer) Gemunu Watch Battalion Headquarters in the nearby area. The new SF-West Commander during those visits symbolically planted saplings in respective compounds.
All Brigade Commanders and Battalion Commanders met him and had an opportunity to discuss matters pertaining to different administration aspects, operational needs, welfare measures and requirements of the troops during this two-day field visit.
