The Security Forces Headquarters - East commenced a Sinhala language training programme at the Ramakrishna Mission School in Kokkadicholai a few months ago, aiming to foster reconciliation among different ethnicities. On 24 May 2024, Commander, Security Forces - East (SF - East), Major General S.A. Kulatunga RWP RSP VSV USP psc visited the school to observe the progress of this initiative. Currently, 103 Tamil students are benefiting from the programme. During his visit, students showcased their Sinhala language skills through songs and speeches. Mr. H. M. Anver serves as the main instructor for this endeavour.
Additionally, the Diploma in Sinhala language certificate awarding ceremony, organised by the Civil Citizen Council of Batticaloa, was held at the National School of Oddamavadi on 26 May 2024. A total of 150 students who successfully completed the course were awarded the Certificate of Diploma in Sinhala Language. Another 220 students, still following the course, received textbooks as additional resources to complete their diploma. The Commander, SF - East graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his address, he emphasised the importance of developing language skills for effective reconciliation among communities and appreciated the Civil Citizen Council of Batticaloa for their efforts in arranging such an important course.
