THE PROPOSED Wellness Resort at Anuradhapura received further patronage during the February month Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB) meeting when one Mrs Chandra Fernando, and expatriate from Mount Lavinia gave away Rs 30,000 towards the project in memory of her late parents.
Mr Upali Gallage and Mrs Leelawathi on behalf of the expatriate, Mrs Chandra Fernando made the donation to Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya, President SVAB during the monthly meeting at SVAB auditorium, Army Headquarters.
During the same meeting a wheelchair and an artificial limb were also donated to two disabled War Heroes, Sergeant H.G.N.W Balasuriya and Private M.H.A Saman Kumara, following coordination done by Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) Seva Vanitha Unit. Messrs Niroshan Perera and Samantha Sirilal Perera sponsored the artificial limb and the wheelchair respectively to those above War Heroes.
Discussions were also centered on conduct of the forthcoming Rana Aruna Udanaya New Year Fair, expected to be held at Panagoda ahead of the Sinhala and Hindu New Year. A special beauty culture workshop was also conducted by Mrs Chandani Bandara during the sessions on an invitation made by Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya, President SVAB.
Several new appointments were also made to the SVAB during its February monthly meeting. Mrs Damayanthi Rathnayaka was appointed SVAB Vice President, Mrs Rani Jayathilleka, SVAB Public Relations Officer, Mrs Roma Rajaguru, In charge of Scholarship project, Mrs Rukmani Mark, In charge of Sewing project and Ms Kaushalya Senaweera and Sepali Samarasinghe, In charge of the Bakery project.
All the Presidents in Regimental Seva Vanitha Units and members of the mother SVAB were present at the monthly meeting.
