Seva Vanitha Organizes 'Kapruka Puja' to Coincide with 'Abimansala' Anniversary

Members of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) on Saturday (19) joined hands together with the inmates at Anuradhapura ‘Abimansala - 1’, wellness resort and participated in a meritorious ‘Kapruk Poojawa’, (adorning of the pagoda with the Buddhist flag colour cloths) at the sacred Ruwanweli Maha Seya at Anuradhapura.
 
The event has been organized to coincide with the 3rd anniversary of the establishment of the ‘Abimansala 1’ where a group of 50 -52 dependent War Heroes are receiving lifetime care and rehabilitation under the management of the Sri Lanka Army Seva Vanitha Unit.
 
As the first leg of the day’s programme, the ASVU ladies, led by Mrs Damayanthi Ratnayake, President, ASVU visited the wellness resort and gave away gift parcels to the inmates. At the same time, these ladies interacted with them and exchanged views with them in a cordial atmosphere.
 
Later in the evening, accompanied by those inmates, ASVU ladies made their way to the Ruwanweli Seya in procession and performed religious observances after offer of Pirikara and other objects to the Dagoba. Afterwards the Kapruk Poojawa began as the huge long cloth of Buddhist flag colours was spread round the Dagoba amidst ‘Sadu Sadu’ prayers of the devotees present at the premises.
 
The Pinkama was attended by members of the ASVU executive board, Major Geneal P.U.S Withanage, General Officer Commanding, 21 Division, Brigadier B.H.M.A Wijesinghe, Director Psychological Operations, Commandants of Abimansal and the Mihindu Seth Medura, several senior officers,Abimansala inmates and other ranks contributed to the conduct of the anniversary meritorious acts.
