Sri Lanka Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU), considering the plight of the flood-affected civilians in Panchikawatta Grama Seva Division (Nos 110, 132, 150 and 198) in Colombo 10, took steps on Wednesday (18) to distribute more than 1300 cooked meal packets among the victims.
Affected civilians belonging to Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim ethnicities including a large gathering of children were offered those meal packets.
The project launched on a proposal made by Mrs Nayana De Silva, President, ASVU was attended by a gathering of senior officers in the ASVU office, ASVU members was coordinated by Ms Lochana Jayaratne, Grama Seva official for the sector and Ven. Demalusse Medhankara Thero, Chief Incumbent at Abayasingharamaya temple in Maradana.
Mr D. P. Wickramasinghe, Divisional Secretary, Colombo District Secretariat and a group of Army officers participated in the event.
