The Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB), in a simple ceremony at the SVAB office handed over keys to five newly-built houses to the recipients on Friday (26).
Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya, President SVAB, as the Chief Guest gave away the keys to the recipients.
Out of the five houses, keys of a home was handed over to Corporal C.A Jayawardana of the Sri Lanka Engineers (SLE). Financial assistance for this house was footed by both the SVAB and the SLE Seva Vanitha Unit and SLE soldiers donated their labour for this project.
Other four houses also built jointly with the funds of the SVAB and Gajabha Regiment (GR) Seva Vanitha Unit. GR soldiers too contributed to this project.
Gajaba Regiment recipients are, Corporal D.H.R Asanka, Lance Corporal K.D.A Karunasiri, Lance Corporal R.K.L Perera and Private A. Silva.
Mrs. Nayana de Silva, President, Sri Lanka Engineers Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Sharanki Dias, President, GR Seva Vanitha Unit, Senior officers, members of SVAB and families of house recipients attended the occasion.
