SERRIC Advisors Present Updates to Army Chief

A team of advisors of the ‘Senehasa’ Education Resource Research and Information Centre (SERRIC) at Manning Town, Narahenpita called on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage this morning (3) at the Army Headquarters.

The team, led by Mrs Soniya Kottegoda, Chief Supervising Officer at SERRIC and Vice Chairman, Ranaviru Seva Authority was composed of Dr. Saraji Wijesekara, Consultant Paediatric Neurologist, Dr. Asiri Hewamalage, Consultant Community Physician and Dr. Harsha Dulari Wijesekara of the Open University.

The SERRIC is managed by the Ranaviru Seva Authority (RVSA) in close collaboration with the Ministry of Defence. The SERRIC, meant for children of tri-services and the Police families with special needs functions as a technically-equipped training centre while taking care of those children.

During the cordial interaction with the Commander of the Army, Mrs Soniya Kottegoda and the team presented an overall picture of its functional aspects, the status quo, routine projects and training modules, future plans and undertakings, projected needs of this special training centre for children. They also thanked the Army Commander for the sustained cooperation being extended to the SERRIC all the time.

The Commander of the Army acknowledged the valuable service of the SERRIC and lauded the contribution of serving experts on behalf of those children with special needs while members of the tri-services are engaged in national duties elsewhere in the country. He also assured maximum support and all possible assistance to the project in the future too.

At the end of the cordial interaction, the Commander of the Army presented mementos to the visiting team as tokens of appreciation. Major General Chandana Wickremasinghe, Adjutant General was also associated with the meeting.
