Senior Officer Just-Promoted Receives New Rank Insignia from the Army Chief

General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army on Monday (30) at the Army HQ extending his best wishes enranked just-promoted Major General Shirantha Dissanayake and adorned him with his new ‘Major General’ insignia on his epaulettes soon after HE the President on the recommendations of the Commander of the Army and Ministry of Defence approved his promotion to the next rank.

Being one of the proud soldiers of the Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps (SLAOC), he is currently serving as the Brigadier Admininstration and Quartering at the SFHQ-East.

The Army Chief told him that an inspiring promotion would inevitably serve a catalyst to his continuing arduous roles in specific capacities and has been recommended largely on one's merits and specific performances, and not on the seniority alone.

While wishing him good luck with his future prospects, General Shavendra Silva presented the Senior Officer with the symbolic sword that signifies the authority of his new rank.

The recipient also thanked the Commander of the Army for the latter's appreciation and his kind comments.

Major General Shirantha Dissanayake has served operation areas during humanitarian operations and many other key appointments in the Army as well as in the Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps, including the office of the Centre Commandant, SLAOC Regimental HQ in particular.
